The Audi finally gets some love!
Maris the Bedford Rascal is the project that this entire venture revolves around – I’ve owned this Bedford longer than I’ve had this unit, and she’s been lurking in the background of many videos. The Porsche arrived lot long after I built the 4 post lift and is also in the background and getting in the way, and it’s finally time to set her free.
Maris is the brainchild of a drunken night with other car people, having stupid ideas and laughing about them, and this is as stupid as it gets – the Rascal is a very silly car, and the boot is big enough to fit a very silly engine, and this is as big as I’m able to go in my budget.
There is a theme on YouTube at the minute on building bigger, crazier, more ridiculous vehicles. I definitely don’t have the budget of Armstrong, the skills of Bad Obsession Motorsport or the ambition of GrindHardPlumbing, but I’m going as extreme as I can at a scale I can (hopefully) manage.
The entire project is being built in real time. I’m working on the car in evenings and weekends, filming and editing as I go, and when I hit build milestones the video goes live. Some videos will be quicker than others, sometimes there will be delays as I work on other projects that help fund this toy, but things are always happening. Project Binky has a 4 year head start on me, but I’m still aiming finish before them!
The response to Maris has been amazing. The subscribers to my channel leapt forwards like a drag car off the line and it was all very surreal! I’m getting close to YouTube monetisation now and I just need the hours, so I need to keep these videos coming and you all need to keep watching them and then Maris can start paying for herself!
